Sharon Mills is a twenty two-year-old, North New Jersey native attending The University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She is majoring in Marketing. Aside from her academic achievement, she is very involved in on-campus and national organizations such as: Ambiance Dance Company, MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, & Related Sciences), and Women of Distinction to name a few. She has previously served as the Senior Class President and was the Coca-Cola Campus-Ambassador for the 2018-2019 Academic Year and Fall 2019. In 2019, Sharon has worked with Dreamville Festival 2019, BET Hip Hop Awards 2019, Black Girl Pod (hosted by five Hot 97 Alums), J.McKee & Co., Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), and Coca-Cola Consolidated Bottling Co.
Throughout college, Sharon has experience in developing and maintaining brands through her marketing skills. In 2017, her chapter for MANRRS, was recognized as the most active chapter on social media right after the national page. She also developed the chapters LinkedIn page and revamped the Facebook page. She credits her college dance team, Ambiance Dance Company, as her first brand she has ever worked with. When she became historian in 2016, she was in charge of maintaining the brand on social media, developing flyers, and posting & editing performances and uploading to YouTube.
Sharon has also helped develop a non-profit organization named HBCU SpotlightTV with founder, Ventress Johnson, and three other students from historically black colleges/universities. She also helped develop the S.A.T Campaign (Student Input, Accountability, Transparency) at UMES with three other like-minded students who've has enough with administrators putting student issues on the back burner. This campaign received local and campus news recognition and got her into a meeting with the current President of her institution. She also maintains her very own brand, Black Blogger Chick, serving college-aged women her perspective and sparking conversation on every topic from Beauty to Music to Finances. Sharon has previously interned with BLK + BLU Online, State of Maryland, U Management Public Relations, and the United States Department of Agriculture.
